The UEFA has confirmed that Barcelona and Manchester United have been fined for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Barcelona has been fined €500,000 for incorrectly reporting profits from the disposal of intangible assets in 2022. Meanwhile, Manchester United has been fined €300,000 for reporting minor break-even deficits on their football-related business, including player transfers and wages.
APOEL FC and Konyaspor, two other clubs, have been fined €100,000 each for offenses similar to that of Manchester United. Additionally, Riga FC, NK Olimpija Ljubljana, and ŠK Slovan Bratislava have been fined €10,000 each for failing to submit complete and accurate break-even information on time.
FC Porto and RSC Anderlecht had previously received conditional sanctions from the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CBCF). While FC Porto met their targets, RSC Anderlecht failed to do so and has been fined €100,000.
AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, who were fined in September 2022 for breaching FFP rules, have all met their financial targets for the last season. However, they will continue to be monitored by UEFA for the upcoming season.
The Financial Fair Play regulations are implemented by UEFA to ensure that football clubs operate with financial sustainability and adhere to fair financial practices. Clubs that fail to comply with these regulations may face fines, transfer restrictions, or even exclusion from UEFA competitions.
