Christian Dior showcased a tribute to Greek goddesses at the Rodin Museum in Paris during the opening day of haute couture week.
The collection featured clean lines, vertical shapes, and subtle shades of white, black, beige, gold, and silver, evoking a sense of antiquity.
Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri aimed to create complexity within the apparent simplicity of the garments, quoting the house’s founder in emphasizing the connection between his dresses and ancient statues.
Chiuri’s collection incorporated variations of Christian Dior’s iconic New Look silhouette, including lighter and more comfortable versions. The challenge was to lighten the construction without compromising the shape.
The show’s decor, designed by Italian artist Marta Roberti, enhanced the ambience with depictions of animals, goddesses, and wild landscapes.
In a departure from traditional couture, the collection included separate elements that could be mixed and matched, allowing for versatility and personal expression. Chiuri emphasized that this collection was not solely designed for red carpet events but rather aimed to empower the individual wearer, focusing on their personal experience rather than public display.
