France is actively courting Elon Musk to consider building Tesla’s next Gigafactory in the country, according to France’s digital minister. The French government sees the investment as a significant opportunity and has made efforts to attract Musk’s attention. The move comes as the minister also threatened Twitter, which is owned by Musk, with a ban if it fails to comply with upcoming European Union regulations.
Jean-Noel Barrot, the digital minister, expressed enthusiasm for having a Tesla factory in France and highlighted the country’s efforts to establish itself as a hub for the electric car industry. France recently opened its first electric car battery factory and believes it offers an ideal location for Tesla’s next manufacturing facility in Europe.
Elon Musk is expected to speak at the Viva Tech summit in Paris, a prominent technology conference, where the French government will have a strong presence. The conference presents an opportunity for France to make its case and convince Musk that establishing a Gigafactory in the country would be advantageous.
As Tesla continues to expand its operations globally, building on its existing manufacturing plants in the United States, Germany, and China, the decision on the location of the next Gigafactory holds strategic importance for the company.
