GoChess, developed by electronic gaming company Particula, is an innovative online chess platform that combines a physical chessboard with robotically moving pieces. It offers players the opportunity to engage in chess matches with opponents of varying skill levels.
GoChess utilizes an actual chessboard with magnetized pieces that can be moved by hand. The board is equipped with sensors that detect the movement of each piece, allowing the system to accurately register the positions of the pieces on the board. Additionally, users have the option to control the movement of the pieces via voice commands.
Opponents can play against each other online, with one player using the physical board and the other using a virtual onscreen chessboard accessed through their computer. This means that players without a GoChess board can still participate in matches with those who have one.
In addition to playing against human opponents, users can also challenge an online AI at various difficulty levels, offering a range of challenges for players of all skill levels. The board features color-coded LEDs beneath each square, providing coaching assistance by indicating potential moves. The LEDs can suggest good moves, possible moves, and even indicate the worst next move.
