A recent survey conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of HP reveals that climate change is influencing people’s decisions about having children, choosing where to work, and making purchasing decisions. The survey polled over 5,000 parents in India, Mexico, Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The survey found that 53% of parents consider climate change when deciding whether to have more children. This indicates that climate concerns are affecting people’s family planning decisions. Additionally, 91% of parents expressed concerns about climate change. The specific effects they are worried about include rising temperatures, water shortages, sea level changes, and extreme weather events.
Parents are also considering climate change in their career choices. The survey found that 43% of respondents reconsidered working for a company based on its commitment to environmental and social issues. This suggests that individuals are prioritizing companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to addressing climate change and sustainability.
Furthermore, the survey reveals that a company’s sustainability practices influence purchasing decisions. Nearly two-thirds (64%) of parents prefer products that are sustainably sourced, and 60% of parents stated that a company’s sustainability practices play a significant role in their purchasing decisions.
These findings highlight the growing influence of climate change on people’s personal and professional choices, indicating a shift towards prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility.
