MrBeast, the popular US-based YouTuber, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first person to reach 1 million followers on Threads, a new social media app that competes with Twitter. This achievement comes shortly after the app’s launch, surpassing even its creator, Mark Zuckerberg.
Threads, which features a text-based chat function, was launched on July 5 and immediately garnered attention by amassing over 22 million sign-ups in a short period. Jimmy Donaldson, known by his real name, quickly gained a substantial following on the app, setting one of its initial Guinness World Records. While other accounts, such as those belonging to businesses like Instagram and National Geographic, also reached 1 million followers, MrBeast’s accomplishment as an individual stands out.
MrBeast’s bio on Threads humorously states, “Future Threads CEO,” further contributing to his popularity on the platform. Surprisingly, he garnered 1 million followers after posting only three times. His first post, made shortly after the app went live, posed a light-hearted question, “Soooooo, how long until we’re also addicted to this app? Lol.”
In addition to engaging with his followers, MrBeast took the opportunity to involve his fans in the discussion. He invited them to like a post if they believed Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (formerly Facebook), should “ma” – an incomplete sentence, perhaps teasing Mark Zuckerberg to make an appearance on the app.
MrBeast’s rapid rise on Threads showcases his strong influence and dedicated fanbase, as well as the appeal of the new social media platform. As he continues to explore and engage with the app, it will be interesting to see how he further utilizes Threads to connect with his followers and create unique experiences.
