Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his prolific performances, has faced criticism for his latest film, Tiku Weds Sheru, particularly regarding romantic scenes with his co-star Avneet Kaur, who is 21 years old. The kissing scene between the 49-year-old actor and his younger co-star sparked angry reactions on social media, with some questioning the age difference between the two. However, Nawazuddin Siddiqui defended the scene and the film, stating that “romance is ageless.”
In an interview with India Today, Nawazuddin Siddiqui expressed his view that romance has no age restrictions. He highlighted that the problem lies in the lack of romance among young men today and reminisced about a different era when love and romance were different. He mentioned Shah Rukh Khan continuing to play romantic roles because the younger generation lacks the same understanding of romance. According to Nawazuddin, those who have experienced and understood romance can portray it on screen.
Kangana Ranaut, the producer of the film, explained the casting decision and revealed that the movie was initially intended to be made with her and the late Irrfan Khan, titled Divine Lovers. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the project faced delays and eventually underwent changes before being made with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur.
Despite the controversy surrounding the film’s romantic scenes, the actors and the producer have defended their choices, emphasizing the timeless nature of romance and the creative decisions made during the production process.
