Shae Gill, the artist behind the popular song ‘Pasoori’ from Coke Studio, has responded to reports of Bollywood attempting to remake her song for the upcoming film ‘Satyaprem ki Katha’. In an exclusive conversation with a local media outlet, Gill stated that she is unaware of any such remake.
Earlier this week, Indian media reported that actor Kartik Aaryan and filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala planned to surprise audiences with a remake of the hit song ‘Pasoori’ in their collaboration for the film. The music of the movie is said to be one of its main highlights, and the makers intended to release two more songs before the film’s upcoming release.
Following the news of the remake, Twitter users expressed their disappointment, criticizing Bollywood for ruining iconic Pakistani songs through remakes. Adnan Siddiqui, a well-known actor, also voiced his concerns on the matter, hoping that Bollywood wouldn’t compromise the integrity of the masterpiece that is ‘Pasoori’.
‘Satyaprem ki Katha’, a joint production of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Namah Pictures, is written by Karan Shrikant Sharma and directed by Sameer Vidwans. It is scheduled to release in theaters on June 29, coinciding with the Eid-al-Adha weekend.
