Following his record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam victory at the French Open, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic reclaimed the top spot in the ATP rankings. With this achievement, Djokovic spent his 388th week as the world number one, moving up two spots in the rankings.
In the semifinals of the French Open, Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz, a 20-year-old player from Spain who had previously held the top ranking until the tournament. As a result of his victory, Djokovic regained the top position in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev of Russia, who suffered an early exit from the French Open, dropped a spot in the rankings. Casper Ruud of Norway, who reached the final but lost, secured the fourth position, holding a 40-point lead over Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece.
On the other hand, Rafael Nadal of Spain, who has won the French Open a record 14 times, was absent from this year’s tournament due to a chronic hip issue. As a consequence, Nadal experienced a significant drop in the rankings, falling 121 spots to 136th place.
