It appears that Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his belief that the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr is superior to the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States, following Lionel Messi’s decision to join Inter Miami in the MLS. According to the Mirror, Messi was reportedly offered a substantial contract to join a Saudi club but chose to move to the US and play for Inter Miami until 2025 after leaving Paris St-Germain (PSG).
Speaking to media after Al-Nassr’s 5-0 friendly defeat to Spanish side Celta Vigo, Ronaldo stated that the Saudi league is much better than the MLS. He claimed that his decision to join Al-Nassr was crucial for the club in attracting new top players. Ronaldo also mentioned that he expected the league to rejuvenate and attract more star players, similar to his experience in the Italian league when he moved there.
The 38-year-old football star declared that he is 100% sure he won’t return to any European club, indicating that he intends to continue his football career outside Europe. He further predicted that in one year, more top players would join the Saudi league, and it would surpass the Turkish and Dutch leagues in terms of quality and reputation.
Ronaldo also praised the English Premier League, stating that it is the only European league that has maintained its quality and competitiveness. According to him, the Premier League is ahead of all the other leagues in Europe, while some of the European leagues have lost their previous levels of quality.
It’s worth noting that Ronaldo’s statements reflect his personal opinions and observations about the current state of football leagues. The landscape of football is constantly evolving, and different players may have differing perspectives based on their experiences and individual preferences.
