The makers of Taali have just dropped the web series’ trailer alongside the caption “Taali – Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge! (We won’t clap rather make others clap for us),” that beautifully encapsulates the trailer of this Sushmita Sen-led high-powered drama.
The trailer of Taali centers around the real-life character of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant, who went against all odds to fight for the rights of the third gender. Sushmita Sen as Shreegauri Sawant is bold and fearless as she plays the catalyst in giving voice to the voiceless.
The trailer begins with the shaming of a young boy Ganesh in a classroom as he reveals his desire to be a mother. How the scared young boy fights for a place in society and slowly transitions into Shreegauri, forms the crux of the trailer.
Sharing the trailer on her Instagram feed, Sushmita Sen captioned the post, “Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. (Gauri Has arrived with the story of her pride, self-respect and freedom.”
A few days back, Sushmita Sen unveiled the teaser of Taali. Sharing the teaser, the actress captioned it, “Gaali se Taali tak ke safar ki yeh kahaani (The journey from abuses to clap). Presenting the story of Shreegauri Sawant’s fight for India’s third gender. #TaaliOnJioCinema streaming free 15 Aug.”
Taali will stream on Jio Cinema from 15 August. Kshitij Patwardhan, who has written the story of the movie, commented on Sushmita’s post. He wrote, “You are an inspiration and a dream for every writer.” Tanisha Mukerjee wrote, “Wow. u are something else.”
