According to a survey conducted by consumer organization, Valencia in Spain has been voted the best coastal destination in Europe by UK travelers. The survey asked more than 3,500 UK travelers to rate their trips to 44 coastal towns and cities across Europe based on various categories such as beach quality, accommodation, tourist attractions, safety, and value for money.
Valencia received a destination score of 91%, earning five-star reviews in seven out of the twelve categories. Visitors praised the city’s beaches, which received a full five-star rating, as well as its tourist attractions, shopping options, friendliness, and overall attractiveness. Valencia was also the only Spanish destination in the survey to score full marks for value for money.
Porto in Portugal and Venice in Italy tied for second place with a score of 88%. Porto was described as picturesque and scored well for its marina, friendliness, and value for money. Venice received praise for its magical views, despite lower scores in the categories of value for money and peace and quiet.
On the other end of the ranking, Mykonos in Greece was voted the worst coastal destination with a destination score of 58%. Fuengirola in Costa Del Sol, Portimao in Portugal, and Napoli in Italy also received low scores from travelers.
The top 10 favorite coastal destinations for UK travelers included Valencia, Porto, Venice, Tavira, Pollenca, Chania, Rhodes, Syracuse, Barcelona, and Lisbon. The bottom 10 least favorite coastal destinations included Mykonos, Fuengirola, Portimao, Napoli, Benalmadena, Marseille, Catania, Albufeira, Carvoeiro, and Benidorm.
The survey highlights the preferences and experiences of UK travelers in European coastal towns and cities, providing insights into the destinations that are highly regarded and those that are perceived less favorably.
